Surly x H+Son

Pairing up a shiny set of Surly’s ultra new flip/flop track hubs with a pair of H+Son’s critically acclaimed archetype rims was a dream for this retro looking modern wheelset.

Hubs: Surly Ultra New hubs use hollow axles mated to threadin wheel fixing bolts, as opposed to the nutted axles. Hollow axles make conversion to quick release super easy (remove bolts, insert QR skewer, install wheel into frame or fork, ride). The axles are made of CroMoly steel, while the fixing bolts are 10.9 stainless steel (i.e. high grade) for corrosion resistance, high strength, and good looks, and the bolts tighten and loosen with a 6mm hex wrench so no need to carry a 15mm spanner with you any more!

Rims: H+Son Archetype. The perfect all around road rim. At 470 grams, this rim has proven to be light yet not sacrificing strength, stiffness, and stability. The well accepted 23mm wide profile mimics a tubular tire, where the advantage can be felt immediately while taking corners as the tire is no longer shaped as a light bulb, flopping over with high load.
